Chandel, Aug 6, 2025: As part of the Week-Long Mega Identification, Assessment & Aids and Devices Distribution Camp, Education (S) Secretary Shri Naorem Praveen Singh distributed wheelchairs and hearing aids to children with special needs at Maha Union Government Higher Secondary School (MUGHSS), Chandel.
The initiative, covering 35 blocks across Manipur, aims to assess and support special students by providing essential assistive devices and gathering data for future interventions. Organised by the Zonal Education Office (ZEO), Chandel under Samagra Shiksha to mark the 5th anniversary of the National Education Policy 2020 (Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam), the camp is being held in collaboration with Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), the District Health Department, and the Artificial Limb Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Guwahati.

Specialist doctors from ENT, orthopaedics, and psychiatry departments conducted assessments for students from various schools in Chandel town. Secretary Naorem Praveen assured that special educators will be provided to schools to better meet the needs of these children.
During the visit, the Education Secretary, accompanied by ZEO and school authorities, inspected school infrastructure, reviewed stock, and discussed measures for institutional improvement.
