NIT Manipur Holds 13th Annual Convocation, 299 Students Conferred Degrees

Imphal, August 4: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur on Tuesday celebrated its 13th Annual Convocation at the City Convention Centre, Imphal, with 299 students receiving degrees in engineering, science, and research programmes.

The convocation was attended by Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh as the Chief Guest, while Bajrang Lal Bagra, former Chairman and Managing Director of NALCO and Chairperson of the Board of Governors, NIT Manipur, presided over the ceremony.

According to the institute, degrees were conferred on 206 B.Tech, 38 M.Tech, 24 M.Sc., and 31 Ph.D. graduates.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Khemchand Singh congratulated the graduating students on achieving an important milestone in their academic journey. He encouraged them to lead with integrity, embrace innovation, and use their knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to society and nation-building.

Describing the youth as Manipur's greatest strength, the Chief Minister reiterated the government's commitment to promoting quality education, innovation, and greater opportunities for young people. He said the government would continue to support initiatives that prepare students to meet future challenges and build a prosperous and developed Manipur.

The institute also highlighted its growing academic and placement achievements, stating that more than 45 reputed companies participated in the latest campus recruitment drive, providing students with opportunities across various sectors.

In a major academic initiative, NIT Manipur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NIT Jodhpur on August 2 to introduce a dual-degree B.Tech-M.Tech programme. The collaboration is expected to provide students with integrated academic opportunities while strengthening research and institutional cooperation between the two premier technical institutes.

The convocation marked another milestone in NIT Manipur's academic journey, celebrating the achievements of its graduates while reaffirming the institute's commitment to excellence in technical education, research, innovation, and skill development. The graduating students were wished success as they embark on the next chapter of their professional and academic careers.
