Aizawl, July 31, 2026: The Mizoram Youth Commission (MYC) and officials from the Taiwan Representative Office have discussed expanding employment, education, and cooperation opportunities for Mizo youth during a meeting held in New Delhi.

The meeting was attended by MYC Chairman Pu Malsawmzuala Ralte and Dr. Mumin Chen of the Taiwan Representative Office. Discussions focused on the implementation of the India–Taiwan Labor Mobility Agreement 2024, particularly on facilitating employment opportunities for young people from Mizoram in Taiwan.
During the meeting, Dr. Mumin Chen said progress in implementing the labour mobility initiative has been slower than expected due to Taiwan's mid-term elections scheduled for November. However, he assured that efforts are continuing to identify suitable pathways for recruiting Mizo youth for employment in Taiwan.
Dr. Chen also proposed organising visits by Taiwanese companies and representatives of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in India to Mizoram. Such visits, he said, would help explore employment opportunities, promote investment, and strengthen economic cooperation between Taiwan and Mizoram.
He further expressed Taiwan's interest in deepening its relationship with Mizoram and expanding collaboration in areas of mutual benefit.

Also present at the meeting was Ms. Jill Lai, who looks after education affairs at the Taiwan Representative Office. She informed the delegation about scholarship programmes available for Mizo students interested in pursuing higher education in Taiwan, including opportunities to study the Mandarin language.
She encouraged more students from Mizoram to take advantage of these scholarships and educational exchanges, noting that they would help strengthen people-to-people ties while equipping young people with valuable academic and language skills.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about enhancing cooperation in employment, education, and cultural exchanges. Pu Jonathan Lalremruata, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister, who is currently in New Delhi, also accompanied the MYC Chairman during the discussions. The initiative is expected to open new avenues for employment and educational opportunities for Mizo youth while strengthening ties between Mizoram and Taiwan.
