Itanagar, July 8: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Core Committee for Unsung Heroes of Arunachal Pradesh to review the progress of the state's initiative to identify, document and honour individuals whose contributions have significantly shaped Arunachal Pradesh's history and identity.
The meeting focused on assessing the progress of ongoing research under the Unsung Heroes Project and exploring ways to strengthen efforts to preserve the state's historical legacy. Members discussed the need for systematic documentation of historical records and ensuring that the inspiring stories of Arunachal Pradesh's forgotten heroes are preserved for future generations.
Speaking after the meeting, Mein said the initiative seeks to recognise the invaluable contributions of individuals who played important roles in the state's history but have not received due recognition. He stressed the importance of preserving authentic historical records and promoting greater awareness of these personalities through research and documentation.
The Deputy Chief Minister appreciated the valuable suggestions and inputs shared by committee members and other stakeholders during the deliberations. He emphasised that collaborative efforts involving researchers, educational institutions and government agencies are essential to build a comprehensive and credible record of the state's unsung heroes.

The meeting was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak, Education and Rural Works Department Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona, Rajiv Gandhi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.K. Nayak, Registrar Dr. N.T. Rikam, and Coordinator of the Unsung Heroes Project Prof. Ashan Riddi, along with other committee members and stakeholders.
The Unsung Heroes Project forms part of the Arunachal Pradesh Government's broader efforts to preserve the state's rich cultural and historical heritage. Through research, documentation and public awareness, the initiative aims to ensure that the sacrifices and achievements of overlooked individuals are recognised and remembered, while inspiring future generations to appreciate the state's history and identity.
