The MoU was signed in the presence of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, who described the partnership as a major initiative aimed at building a future-ready workforce and strengthening the state’s skill development ecosystem.

According to the Chief Minister, the collaboration will focus on several key areas, including academic development, infrastructure enhancement, leadership and capability development, as well as certification and quality assurance. The partnership is expected to help align Meghalaya’s vocational training programmes with international standards and industry requirements.

As part of the agreement, ITEES will undertake a Situational Training Needs Analysis (STNA) to assess the current skill development landscape in Meghalaya. Based on the findings, the Singapore-based institution will develop recommendations and prepare a detailed implementation roadmap for the proposed Meghalaya Skills Institute (MSI).

Sharing the development, Chief Minister Sangma stated that the partnership reflects the government’s commitment to investing in human capital and creating opportunities for the youth of the state. He noted that the collaboration with ITEES would enable Meghalaya to benefit from Singapore’s globally recognised expertise in technical and vocational education.

The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in transforming the state’s skill development framework and ensuring that Meghalaya’s youth are better prepared to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving job market, both within India and internationally.
