Aizawl, June 16, 2026: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting at his office with senior officials from the Planning & Programme Implementation Department and the Finance Department to review preparations for an upcoming regional workshop on strengthening institutional capacity in the Northeast. The meeting also assessed the progress of the State Annual Sustainable Capital Investment (SASCI) programme and discussed proposed initiatives for the coming financial year.
The review meeting was attended by Pu TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to the Chief Minister, along with senior government officials responsible for planning, finance, and development programmes.
A major focus of the discussion was the Institutional Capacity in North Eastern Region Workshop being organized by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in Shillong. The workshop aims to enhance the effectiveness and implementation of Externally Aided Projects (EAPs) across the Northeastern states by strengthening institutional and technical capacities within state governments and related agencies.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister on the objectives of the workshop and the preparations required for Mizoram’s participation. The programme is expected to bring together representatives from all Northeastern states, including Chief Ministers, senior bureaucrats, development agencies, and financial institutions. The event will provide a platform for states to exchange experiences, share best practices, and discuss challenges encountered in the implementation of externally funded development projects.
The workshop will also focus on improving coordination among various ministries, departments, and implementing agencies involved in EAPs. Discussions are expected to cover project planning, monitoring, financial management, capacity building, and strategies for ensuring efficient utilization of development assistance. Chief Minister Lalduhoma is scheduled to address the gathering and share Mizoram’s experiences and perspectives on development planning and project implementation.
Following the discussion on the upcoming workshop, the meeting turned its attention to the progress of the SASCI 2025–26 programme. Officials reviewed the status of ongoing projects being implemented under the initiative and assessed achievements made so far. The programme has been designed to strengthen capital investment, improve public infrastructure, and support sustainable economic development across the state.

The meeting also deliberated on new proposals and priority interventions planned under SASCI 2026–27. Officials discussed strategies for accelerating project execution, enhancing resource utilization, and ensuring that development investments deliver tangible benefits to communities throughout Mizoram.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma emphasized the importance of efficient planning, strong institutional capacity, and effective coordination among departments in achieving the state’s development objectives. He underscored the need for maximizing the benefits of externally aided projects and capital investment programmes to drive economic growth, improve infrastructure, and enhance public services.
The discussions concluded with a commitment to strengthen administrative capacity, improve project implementation mechanisms, and ensure Mizoram remains well-positioned to leverage national and international development opportunities. Officials expressed confidence that participation in the Shillong workshop would further enhance the state’s ability to plan and execute large-scale development initiatives in the years ahead.
