Mamit, May 11: Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal on Monday visited Mamit district in Mizoram and held a review meeting with officials from various government departments to assess ongoing developmental activities and the implementation of key government schemes.

During the meeting, the Minister stressed the importance of understanding the objectives behind the Central Government’s designation of Mamit as an Aspirational District. He said focused and sustained efforts were necessary to accelerate the district’s social and economic development and improve the quality of life of its residents.
Meghwal urged all departments to work in close coordination to ensure effective implementation of public welfare schemes and timely delivery of services. He also highlighted the need to strengthen public awareness and outreach programmes so that government schemes and benefits could reach eligible beneficiaries, especially in rural and remote areas.
The Union Minister assured district officials that the Central Government remains committed to extending all possible support in addressing challenges faced during the implementation of various developmental projects and welfare schemes.
The review meeting was chaired by Mamit Deputy Commissioner Suvigya S. Chandra, who presented an overview of the district’s developmental status and progress made under different government initiatives.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need for continued dedication and coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure inclusive growth, infrastructure development and socio-economic advancement in the district.
Senior officials from various departments attended the meeting and presented updates on ongoing projects and sector-wise progress.
Following the review meeting, Meghwal visited the District Court and District Jail in Mamit, where he briefly interacted with judicial staff, jail officials and employees.
