Imphal, May 10: Security forces arrested two active cadres of different factions of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during separate operations conducted across Manipur on May 9 and 10, according to Manipur Police.
In a statement shared on social media, Manipur Police said an active cadre of KCP (Apunba), identified as Laishram Gopen Singh alias Punshiba (40) of Tentha Mathak Leikai in Thoubal district, was arrested on May 10 from his locality under Khongjom Police Station.
Security personnel recovered a mobile phone, a bag, and camouflage clothing including T-shirts and uniforms from his possession.
In another operation conducted on May 9, security forces arrested an active cadre of KCP (MFL), identified as Huidrom Sunder Singh alias Sanathoi alias Salai (41) of Sekta Awang Leikai, Imphal East district, from Sawombung Khunjao under Lamlai Police Station. A mobile phone was seized from him.
Meanwhile, security forces also recovered arms and ammunition from multiple locations in Imphal West district.
On May 9, a search operation at Ingel Hill, Tendongyang under Sekmai Police Station led to the recovery of two single-barrel guns, two .32 pistols, two No. 36 HE grenades, and 99 rounds of ammunition of different calibres.

In another operation carried out on May 10 at the Langol hill range under Lamphel Police Station, security forces recovered one INSAS rifle with two magazines, one .303 rifle with a magazine, one single-bore barrel, four bolt-action rifles, and ten pistols with magazines.
Additionally, five 38mm anti-riot rubber shells, one detonator, four empty cartridges, and five live rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition were also seized during the operation.
Police stated that further investigation is underway in connection with the arrests and recoveries.
