Pema Khandu Reviews Development Challenges Across 11 Arunachal Districts

Itanagar, May 22: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday chaired extensive district-wise review meetings with MLAs and Deputy Commissioners from 11 districts to assess governance challenges, development priorities and infrastructure needs across the state.

The meetings, which continued from morning until late afternoon, included representatives from Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi, West Siang, Upper Subansiri, Siang, Upper Siang, East Siang, Lower Subansiri, Papum Pare, Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) and Longding districts.

According to the Chief Minister, discussions focused on key issues affecting grassroots administration, including infrastructure gaps, manpower shortages, public service delivery and developmental projects requiring urgent government intervention.

Khandu stated that the district-wise review meetings are not merely routine administrative exercises but a crucial platform for understanding the genuine concerns and aspirations of the people through direct interaction with elected representatives and district officials working on the ground.

He stressed the importance of coordinated governance and timely implementation of development projects to ensure balanced growth across all regions of Arunachal Pradesh, particularly in remote and border districts facing logistical and connectivity challenges.

The Chief Minister noted that the feedback and inputs received during the discussions would help the government identify priority areas and formulate targeted solutions for improving administration and accelerating development initiatives.

Officials and legislators reportedly highlighted various district-specific concerns related to roads, healthcare, education, staffing shortages, connectivity and public infrastructure during the deliberations.

Khandu also announced the successful completion of Phase II of the district-wise review meetings and said the government would continue with Phase III discussions on the following day.

The district review meetings form part of the Arunachal Pradesh government’s broader efforts to strengthen governance, enhance accountability and ensure that developmental benefits reach people at the grassroots level.

The initiative is also aimed at improving coordination between the government, district administrations and elected representatives to address local challenges more effectively and deliver citizen-centric governance across the state.
