Shillong, May 5, 2026: The annual awards ceremony of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) North Eastern Region for the training year 2025–26 was held at the Rhino Auditorium in Shillong Cantonment, bringing together top cadets, officers, and officials from across the Northeast.

The event was attended by Group Commanders from all nine NCC Group Headquarters in the region, along with cadets and award recipients. Meghalaya’s Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla and Additional Director General NCC (NER) Anurag Vij presented the awards.
Organised at the end of each training year, the ceremony recognises excellence and outstanding contributions by cadets, Associate NCC Officers, institutions, instructors, and NCC units. The initiative aims to promote discipline, competition, and higher standards in NCC activities.
Among the top awardees, Senior Under Officer Tushar Dey was named Best Cadet (Senior Division), while Leading Cadet Neihoiling Lhouvum received the Best Cadet award in the Senior Wing category.
In the Associate NCC Officer category, First Officer H. Bheigyachandra Singh (male) and Second Officer R. Vanlaltanpuii (female) were honoured for their contributions.

In institutional categories, St. Francis De Sales School was awarded Best School, while Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmall Kanoi College was named Best College. The National Institute of Technology Agartala received the Best Technical College award.
The Best NCC Unit title went to 4 Assam Battalion NCC, Sribhumi, while Girl Cadet Instructor Sulfi was recognised as the Best GCI for the training year.
The ceremony highlighted the NCC’s role in shaping youth leadership and fostering a spirit of discipline and service across the region.
