Dimapur, May 30, 2026: Nagaland's Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, on Friday inaugurated three major infrastructure projects at Dimapur Government College under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) scheme, aimed at strengthening higher education, skill development, and gender-inclusive learning in the state.

The newly inaugurated facilities include an Academic Building under the "Grants to Strengthen Colleges" component, an Incubation Centre/Skill Hub, and a Girls' Hostel under the "Gender Inclusion and Equity Initiatives" component of PM-USHA.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sarita Yadav, IAS, Secretary, Higher & Technical Education Department; Sentiyanger Pongen, Additional Secretary and State Project Director, RUSA; V. Lovitoly Sema, NCS, Additional Secretary and Ex-Officio Director of Higher Education; Er. Hokato Sema, Superintending Engineer, Education Division, NPWD, along with other officials.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Temjen Imna Along emphasized that the future of Nagaland's education sector depends on developing a skilled and employable workforce capable of adapting to rapidly evolving technologies and workplace demands. He stressed the importance of equipping students with practical skills alongside academic knowledge to prepare them for future opportunities.
The minister noted that educational institutions must continuously evolve to meet the challenges of a technology-driven world and play a key role in nurturing innovation, entrepreneurship, and human resource development.

The newly established Incubation Centre and Skill Hub are expected to enhance employability and entrepreneurial opportunities for students, while the Girls' Hostel will promote greater access to higher education by supporting gender inclusion and equity.
Officials said the infrastructure projects represent a significant step toward improving educational facilities in Nagaland and reflect the government's commitment to advancing the state's higher education landscape through modern learning environments and skill-oriented programmes.
The inauguration marks another milestone in Dimapur Government College's developmental journey, with the new facilities expected to benefit current students and future generations alike.
