Manipur CM Meets Churachandpur Meitei Committee, Reaffirms Commitment to Rehabilitation and Peace

Imphal, May 30, 2026: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Saturday met a delegation of the Churachandpur Meitei United Committee and Victim Committee at the Manipur Secretariat and discussed issues relating to the rehabilitation of displaced families and the restoration of peace in the state.

The delegation was led by the committee's Co-Convenor, Naba Ningthoujam, who called on the Chief Minister to discuss concerns arising from the ethnic unrest and the challenges faced by affected communities.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister and the delegation deliberated on matters related to resettlement, rehabilitation, and measures aimed at restoring lasting peace and normalcy in conflict-affected areas.

Khemchand Singh described the displacement and hardships experienced by families affected by the unrest as deeply unfortunate and reiterated the government's commitment to addressing their concerns.

He assured the delegation that the state government remains dedicated to ensuring the safe rehabilitation of displaced families while also taking necessary steps to prevent a recurrence of violence and unrest.

The Chief Minister further emphasized that restoring peace, normalcy, and communal harmony remains one of the government's top priorities. He reaffirmed the administration's resolve to work towards creating conditions that would allow affected families to rebuild their lives in safety and dignity.

The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts by the state government to facilitate rehabilitation, strengthen confidence-building measures, and promote reconciliation among communities affected by the prolonged conflict.

Officials said the government continues to engage with various stakeholders and community organisations as part of broader initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability across Manipur.
