Kohima, May 4, 2026: Nand Kishore Yadav, Governor of Nagaland, chaired a review meeting with the Department of Social Welfare at Lok Bhavan on Monday to assess the implementation of key welfare programmes.

The meeting focused on schemes related to nutrition, child protection, women’s empowerment, and support for vulnerable groups. The Governor emphasised the need for effective implementation, greater public awareness, and improved coordination among departments to ensure benefits reach intended beneficiaries.

Highlighting accessibility issues, Yadav suggested organising village and block-level camps to facilitate disability certification and streamline access to welfare benefits, particularly for persons with disabilities.

He stressed that grassroots outreach and efficient delivery mechanisms are crucial to strengthening the impact of social welfare initiatives across the state.
