Nagaland CEO Announces Schedule for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Exercise

Kohima, May 15: Election Commission of India has directed a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 16 states and three Union Territories, including Nagaland, with the final electoral roll for the state scheduled to be published on November 22, 2026.

According to a notification issued by Bhagyashree Banayat, the qualifying date for the Special Intensive Revision in Nagaland has been fixed as October 1, 2026.

The Chief Electoral Officer stated that the schedule for SIR Phase-III has been prepared keeping in view the common field machinery engaged in the ongoing Census house-listing exercise.

As per the schedule, preparation, training and printing activities will be conducted from August 5 to August 14. This will be followed by house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from August 16 to September 14.

The draft electoral roll will be published on September 20, while claims and objections may be submitted from September 20 to October 20. The disposal of claims and objections will continue until November 18.

The final electoral roll for Nagaland is scheduled for publication on November 22, 2026.

Officials stated that the Special Intensive Revision is a participative exercise involving electors, political parties and election officials to ensure transparency and accuracy in the electoral roll revision process.

The Election Commission has also requested all political parties to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) for every polling booth to ensure full participation of political parties during the revision exercise.
