The revision exercise is part of the Election Commission’s efforts to ensure that electoral rolls remain accurate, updated, and inclusive by incorporating eligible voters and removing discrepancies. The process is expected to involve active participation from voters, political parties, election officials, and other stakeholders.

According to a notification issued by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland, Bhagyashree Banayat, the qualifying date for the Special Intensive Revision in Nagaland has been fixed as October 1, 2026. Individuals who attain the eligible age and fulfill the required conditions by this date will be considered for inclusion in the electoral rolls.

Officials stated that the schedule for SIR Phase-III has been designed while taking into account the availability of field-level personnel, many of whom are currently engaged in the ongoing Census house-listing exercise. The planning aims to ensure smooth implementation of both activities without affecting their effectiveness.

As per the notified schedule, preparatory activities including planning, training of election personnel, and printing of necessary materials will be carried out between August 5 and August 14. This will be followed by house-to-house verification visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from August 16 to September 14. During this period, BLOs will verify voter details and collect information required for updating the electoral rolls.

The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on September 20, 2026, after which the period for filing claims and objections will commence. Electors, political parties, and other stakeholders may submit requests for corrections, additions, deletions, or modifications from September 20 to October 20.

Election officials will then scrutinize and dispose of all claims and objections by November 18, ensuring that genuine cases are addressed before the publication of the final roll.

Officials urged citizens to cooperate with election personnel and ensure that their electoral details are accurate and up to date, reinforcing the democratic process and ensuring that every eligible voter is included in the electoral rolls.
