Mizoram University Concludes National Workshop on Emerging Trends in Knowledge Organization

Aizawl, May 22, 2026: The Department of Library and Information Science (DLIS), Mizoram University, successfully concluded the valedictory ceremony of its three-day National Workshop on “Emerging Trends in Knowledge Organization: Principles and Practice” on Thursday.

The workshop brought together academicians, librarians and research scholars from various institutions to deliberate on evolving practices, principles and innovations in the field of knowledge organization and information management.

The valedictory programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Manoj Kumar Verma, Workshop Director and Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, Mizoram University. He highlighted the significance of adapting library and information systems to meet changing academic and technological needs.

Prof. R.K. Ngurtinkhuma (Retd.), Department of Library and Information Science, Mizoram University, attended the event as Special Guest and addressed participants on the growing importance of knowledge organization in the digital era.

Dr. F. Chanchinmawia, Workshop Convenor, presented a detailed report on the workshop, summarising key discussions, academic sessions and practical learnings covered during the three-day programme. Participants also shared their feedback and experiences during the concluding session.

The event was graced by Dr. Lallaisangzuali, Librarian of Mizoram University, who attended as Chief Guest and delivered an address encouraging continued academic collaboration and innovation in the field of library and information science.

The organisers expressed gratitude to the distinguished resource persons, including Prof. M.P. Satija, Prof. R.K. Ngurtinkhuma and Dr. Mayank Yuvraj, for delivering insightful sessions that enriched participants’ understanding of contemporary trends in knowledge organization.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Divyanshu Gupta, Workshop Co-Convenor, who acknowledged the contributions of all guests, scholars and participants in making the workshop a success.

Officials said the workshop served as an important platform for exchanging ideas and strengthening academic discourse on emerging developments in library science and knowledge management.
