Parbung, May 14:The semi-final matches of the Hmar Martyrs’ Trophy 2026 Football Tournament were held at Parbung Mini Stadium in Pherzawl district of Manipur under the joint organisation of the Pherzawl District Football Association and HMARTOB Hmarram.

The football tournament witnessed strong participation and drew prominent leaders from Mizoram, including Mizoram Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama, Lunglei North MLA V. Malsawmtluanga and Sinlung Hills Council Member Vanlalsiamsanga.
Addressing the gathering, Mizoram Speaker Lalbiakzama emphasised the importance of unity and brotherhood among all Mizo communities living across different regions. He stated that Mizoram should remain a place of hope, belonging and solidarity for Mizos living in various parts of the country, especially during difficult times.
Lalbiakzama said strengthening unity among different Mizo tribes and communities remains an important objective of the ZPM government. He also expressed happiness at being able to meet Hmar communities residing in Pherzawl district of Manipur and interact with them directly.

Lunglei North MLA V. Malsawmtluanga also addressed the gathering and spoke about the close bond shared between the people of Mizoram and the Hmar community in Manipur. He described his visit to Parbung as a meeting among brothers and extended appreciation for the warm hospitality shown by local residents.
On the sporting front, Damdiei FC secured a convincing 5-1 victory over Sinlung Camp FC in the first semi-final to enter the final of the tournament. In the second semi-final, Electric Department defeated Rawvakawt 2-1 in a closely fought match to book their place in the championship clash.
The final match of the Hmar Martyrs’ Trophy 2026 will be played on May 16 in observance of Martyrs’ Day. Organisers said a special remembrance programme honouring Hmar martyrs will be held before the final match between Damdiei FC and Electric Department.
