Mizoram Government Launches ‘Mizotaxi’ App, Rollout in Aizawl from July 1

In a notification issued on Friday, the Secretary of the State Transport Authority (STA), Mizoram, stated that the application has been jointly developed by the Government of Mizoram, Digiride Technology Pvt. Ltd., and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Mizoram.

According to the notification, the service will initially be introduced in Aizawl before being gradually expanded to other districts across the state.

The Mizotaxi app is scheduled to become operational in Aizawl on July 1, 2026. In preparation for the rollout, all four-wheeler taxis, two-wheeler taxis, and autorickshaws operating within Aizawl city have been directed to complete registration with the platform during June 2026.

Vehicle operators have been asked to register at the Mizotaxi Office located behind the DTO (L.A.) Office at the Transport Complex in Chaltlang.

To encourage early registration, the government has fixed a registration fee of Rs 600 per year (Rs 50 per month) for operators who complete the process during June 2026. Those registering after the deadline will be required to pay Rs 1,000 annually.

Officials said the initiative aims to improve transparency in fare collection, enhance convenience for commuters, and bring public transport services under a unified digital platform.

The Mizotaxi application has already been made available for download on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. However, users will be able to begin booking services through the app only from July 1, 2026, when the platform officially goes live.

The launch marks a significant step in the digitisation of Mizoram's transport sector and is expected to benefit both passengers and transport operators by providing a more regulated and accessible transport service.
