Sharing details of the report, Sangma said Meghalaya recorded a 15.3 per cent five-year nominal GDP growth and witnessed a 97 per cent rise in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) between FY21 and FY26. The report also noted a four-fold increase in capital investments in the state since 2018.

The Chief Minister described the achievement as a reflection of Meghalaya’s sustained focus on infrastructure development, connectivity, tourism, entrepreneurship and governance reforms over the past several years.

According to the report, rapid infrastructure expansion across the state, improving road connectivity and growing investor confidence have contributed significantly to Meghalaya’s economic growth trajectory. The tourism and service sectors were also identified as major drivers creating employment opportunities and supporting local livelihoods.

The report further highlighted Meghalaya’s emphasis on expanding urban and power infrastructure, along with development-focused governance reforms aimed at strengthening economic activity and public service delivery.

Sangma stated that the state government’s initiatives in promoting entrepreneurship, skill development and livelihood generation have helped create new opportunities for youth and local communities. He said the growth story was not limited to economic figures alone, but represented the aspirations, resilience and hard work of the people of Meghalaya.
