Announcing the projects, the Chief Minister said the initiatives are part of the government’s long-term vision to modernise Tura and improve the quality of life for residents while positioning the town as a regional hub for tourism, sports, culture, and commerce.
Among the key projects unveiled was the redevelopment of Najing Bazar into a modern commercial hub. The project will include upgraded market spaces, improved parking facilities, hotel infrastructure, and dedicated spaces for local vendors aimed at boosting business activity and urban convenience.
The Chief Minister also laid the foundation for a ₹51.21 crore Multi-Level Car Parking and Cinema Complex at Dakopgre. The proposed facility will accommodate around 200 vehicles and include three cinema screens, a gaming zone, and a food court, making it one of the largest integrated urban entertainment and parking projects in the region.
Another major component of the urban renewal initiative is the refurbishment of the SMELC Complex. The upgraded complex will feature an Art and Culture Promenade, a museum, a children’s park, a Chief Minister’s Youth Centre, and an Active Ageing Centre for senior citizens.
In addition to infrastructure projects, the Chief Minister launched the Tura Municipal Board Mobile App to improve civic services and citizen engagement. Sanction letters were also handed over to local artists under the CM Artists Engagement Scheme to support and promote local talent and cultural activities.
