Manipur Police Shine at All India Police Badminton Cluster Championships in Lucknow

Imphal, May 15: The Manipur Police contingent delivered an outstanding performance at the 2nd All India Police Badminton Cluster Championships 2025–26, held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, winning an impressive haul of medals in badminton and table tennis and earning accolades from Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand.

Congratulating the team, the Chief Minister praised the contingent led by IPS officer Asana Sarangthem, Commandant of the 2nd Manipur Rifles, for bringing laurels to the state through their remarkable achievements in the national-level police sporting event.

The Manipur Police Table Tennis Team emerged as the Overall First Runners-Up in both the men's and women's team categories, showcasing exceptional consistency and skill throughout the championship. The team secured a total of 19 medals, comprising 5 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze, making it one of the best-performing contingents at the tournament.

The Badminton Team also registered an excellent performance, winning 2 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals across various individual and team events. The athletes displayed determination, discipline, and technical excellence against competitors representing police forces from across the country.

In his congratulatory message, Chief Minister Khemchand said the achievements of the Manipur Police contingent once again demonstrated the state's rich sporting tradition and the dedication of its police personnel. He noted that the force continues to excel not only in maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety, and protecting citizens but also in representing the state with distinction in national sporting competitions.
