Imphal, May 7: Security forces recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and explosive materials during separate operations conducted in Senapati and Churachandpur districts of Manipur on Thursday, according to Manipur Police.

In the first operation, security forces recovered several weapons from the Maremai-Hengbung hill ranges under Senapati Police Station in Senapati district.
The recovered items included two .22 rifles with magazines, one .303 rifle with magazine, one MP5 submachine gun with magazine, one AK-47 rifle with magazine, four locally made bolt-action rifles, one locally made shotgun, three .32 pistols with magazines, two .22 pistols with magazines, 79 live rounds of ammunition of different calibres and 13 empty cases.

In another operation conducted in the Hengkapkot area under Churachandpur Police Station, security forces recovered three single-barrel rifles, one .303 rifle, one pompi, four rocket shells, one cylindrical improvised explosive device (IED) containing approximately 500 grams of explosives, one conical IED weighing around four kilograms, four bulletproof jackets, two helmets, several fired cases and a radio set charger.
Police said the recoveries were made during search and area domination operations carried out in vulnerable and fringe areas of the state. Further investigation into the recoveries is underway.
