Manipur Police Hands Over ₹1 Crore Ex-Gratia to Fallen Constable’s Family

Imphal, May 5, 2026: The Manipur Police on Tuesday handed over a sum of ₹1 crore to the family of late Constable Soibam Sanjit Singh under the Police Salary Package scheme, in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the State Bank of India in October 2024.

Constable Soibam Sanjit Singh had tragically lost his life in July 2025 while performing his duties at Sagoltongba in Imphal West. He was remembered by the department as a sincere and dedicated officer who served with unwavering commitment to the public.

The cheque was formally handed over at the office of the Superintendent of Police, Imphal West, in the presence of senior police officials, including Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) L. Kailun. The cheque was presented by Kh. Okendra Singh, Regional Manager of SBI Imphal.

The police department described the untimely demise of Constable Sanjit Singh as a profound loss, not only to the force but also to the public he served. It expressed gratitude to SBI for extending timely financial support and standing in solidarity with the bereaved family.

Reaffirming its commitment to personnel welfare, Manipur Police stated that it will continue to support the families of its personnel, recognising the sacrifices made by officers in the line of duty.
