Imphal, May 9: Govindas Konthoujam on Friday led a delegation of Members of the Legislative Assembly to Kamjong district to assess the situation following recent violence and firing incidents reported in Wangli, Namli and Choro villages.
The visit was undertaken on the advice of Yumnam Khemchand to review the prevailing law and order situation and interact with local residents affected by the unrest.
The delegation included MLAs Thongam Biswajit, Thangjam Arun Kumar, Ram Muivah, Khashim Vashum, Leishiyo Keishing and Abdul Nasir.
During the visit, the team inspected affected areas and held interactions with local leaders and women’s groups regarding the security situation and challenges faced by residents.

Govindas Konthoujam also visited Nambashi in Kamjong district, where he met Shanalong women representatives and listened to their grievances, concerns and hardships arising from the recent tensions.
The Home Minister assured residents that the government would make every possible effort to address their issues and work collectively towards restoring peace, security and normalcy in the area.
The visit comes amid heightened tensions in parts of Kamjong district following recent incidents of violence and firing near villages along the Indo-Myanmar border region.
