The financial assistance was disbursed through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system in the presence of senior government officials, education department representatives, college authorities, and other dignitaries. The initiative is aimed at helping displaced students continue their higher education despite the hardships caused by the prolonged crisis in the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the government remains firmly committed to ensuring that no student's education is interrupted because of displacement or financial hardship. He described education as a powerful instrument for rebuilding lives and securing a better future, particularly for young people affected by conflict.

"The Government of Manipur remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted education and extending support to displaced students during these challenging times," Khemchand said.

He expressed hope that the financial assistance would encourage students to pursue their academic aspirations with renewed confidence, determination, and optimism. He also urged them to remain focused on their studies despite the difficulties they have faced over the past several months.

The Chief Minister's College Students Rehabilitation Scheme (CMCSRS) was introduced to provide financial support to students whose education was disrupted after the outbreak of ethnic violence in Manipur, which displaced thousands of families and affected educational institutions across several districts.

Officials stated that the scheme forms part of the government's broader rehabilitation efforts aimed at safeguarding the educational future of displaced youth. Besides financial assistance, the government has been taking steps to facilitate the continuation of academic activities and ensure that students have access to educational opportunities during the recovery process.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the welfare and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons remain among the government's highest priorities. He assured that the administration would continue implementing people-centric initiatives to support vulnerable sections of society and create an environment where students can continue their education without fear or uncertainty, contributing to the long-term development and stability of Manipur.

Khemchand expressed hope that the assistance would encourage students to continue pursuing their academic goals with confidence, determination and hope despite the hardships they face.
