Manipur CM Reviews Health Dept’s EAP to Boost Urban, Rural Healthcare

Imphal, May 4, 2026: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Monday chaired key presentations at the State Secretariat, focusing on strengthening healthcare delivery and advancing women’s economic empowerment in the state.

A presentation by the Health Department on a proposed Externally Aided Project (EAP) highlighted plans to improve and diversify healthcare services across both urban and rural areas. Senior officials attended the meeting, which emphasized the need for a resilient health system driven by equity, accessibility, and quality care.

Addressing the session, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring affordable and inclusive healthcare for all citizens. He stressed that timely and efficient delivery of medical services remains central to building a stronger healthcare ecosystem in Manipur.

In a separate meeting, the Planning Department presented details of the Chief Minister’s Women Economic Empowerment Scheme, aimed at enhancing women’s participation in economic and public life.

Khemchand said the initiative would play a key role in strengthening the welfare, dignity, and agency of women, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development. He noted that economic empowerment forms the foundation for broader social, political, and cultural progress.

The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive growth, stating that efforts are being made to ensure no section of society is left behind as the state moves towards peace, development, and unity.
