Organised by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Nagaland, the workshop saw participation from officials of the Department of School Education (DoSE), all eight District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), and SCERT faculty.

The programme was aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to improve teaching quality and strengthen the overall education system. Participants engaged in developing assessment items grounded in classroom realities, ensuring they are practical, relevant, and context-specific.

Officials said the exercise would contribute not only to strengthening Nagaland’s education system but also provide valuable inputs at the national level, particularly to the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

The NPST framework, developed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), outlines clear expectations for quality teaching and provides a structured pathway for teachers’ professional growth.

The workshop focused on understanding the vision of NEP 2020 in relation to teacher assessment, familiarising participants with the NPST Guiding Document (2023), and equipping them with skills to design high-quality, reliable, and unbiased assessment tools as part of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

Officials described the initiative as a significant step towards enhancing teaching standards and ensuring better learning outcomes across the state.
