According to reports from the ground, suspected Myanmar-based militants crossed into Indian territory and attacked Tangkhul Naga villages in the area, triggering panic among residents. Several houses, including the residence of a village headman in Namlee village, were reportedly set ablaze during the assault.
Visuals and videos circulating on social media showed thick smoke rising from hill slopes, while frightened villagers, including women and children, were seen fleeing into nearby forest areas for safety amid sounds of gunfire and explosions.
Sources alleged that the KNA-B targeted villages in Choro, including Namlee and the Wanglee market area, resulting in widespread fear and displacement among civilians living near the border.
One civilian, reportedly a Kuki woman, was said to have sustained injuries during the violence. No fatalities had been officially confirmed at the time of filing this report.

Residents of the affected villages are reportedly taking shelter in jungles and nearby safer locations as tension continues to grip the border region.
The latest incident has further intensified concerns over the deteriorating security situation along the Indo-Myanmar border and the spillover of armed conflict into civilian areas in Manipur.
The violence also highlights the growing Naga-Kuki tensions, which have increasingly emerged as another dimension of the prolonged ethnic conflict in the state over the past three years.
Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. Further details are awaited.
