The decision is expected to benefit around 69,248 government employees and 40,477 pensioners and family pensioners across the state. The hike comes as part of the state government’s continued efforts to support its workforce amid rising inflation and cost-of-living pressures.
According to the announcement, arrears for the period from January to April 2026 will be paid in cash, while the revised DA and DR will be incorporated into regular monthly salaries and pensions thereafter. The move is likely to provide immediate financial relief to thousands of families dependent on government income.
Dearness Allowance is a crucial component of salaries and pensions, designed to offset the impact of inflation on employees and retirees. Arunachal Pradesh has consistently revised DA rates in line with central government trends, having earlier increased the allowance to 58 per cent in 2025.
The latest hike reflects the state government’s focus on employee welfare and financial stability. Officials noted that such revisions not only improve purchasing power but also contribute to boosting local economic activity by increasing disposable income.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu reiterated that the welfare of employees and pensioners remains a key priority for the government. He emphasised that timely revisions in allowances are essential to ensure that public servants remain motivated and financially secure.
The announcement also comes amid broader efforts by the state government to improve infrastructure, education, and economic development in Arunachal Pradesh, where public sector employment continues to play a significant role in livelihoods.
With this latest revision, the state joins a broader national trend of periodic DA increases aimed at cushioning government employees and pensioners against inflation, while reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and welfare.
