Tawang, April 11: The first-ever Wudong Mentoh Rhododendron Festival 2026 was inaugurated at Khrimu Village in Tawang, celebrating the region’s rich biodiversity, culture, and community spirit.

The grand inaugural ceremony was attended by Pema Khandu along with Kiren Rijiju, state ministers Nyato Dukam and Kento Jini, as well as local legislators Namgey Tsering and Tsering Lhamu. Senior officials and residents of Khrimu Village also participated in the celebration.
The festival aims to highlight the region’s diverse rhododendron species while promoting eco-tourism and preserving the cultural heritage of local communities.
Scheduled for April 11–12, the two-day event features cultural programmes, traditional performances, exhibitions, and special cultural night music shows showcasing the vibrant traditions of the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Khandu described the festival as a celebration where nature and culture bloom together, reflecting the beauty of spring and the spirit of Tawang.
Officials expressed hope that the Rhododendron Festival will become an annual attraction, boosting tourism and strengthening the cultural identity of the district.
