Mangan, April 11: Thierry Mathou visited several cultural and historical sites in North Sikkim’s Kabi Subdivision of Mangan on Friday as part of efforts to strengthen cultural ties between India and France.

The Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse Cécile Mathou, members of the French Consulate team from Kolkata, Political and Cooperation Officer Yazid Soussi, and other delegates.
On arrival, the delegation was received at Labrang Monastery by Kabi Sub-Divisional Magistrate Monika Rai. During the visit, the delegates interacted with local officials and explored areas of mutual cooperation.
The delegation toured several important religious and heritage sites including the historic ruins of the royal palace at Tumlong Palace Ruins, as well as Phodong Monastery and Phensang Monastery.
They also visited the historic site of the Blood Brotherhood Treaty at Kabi Lungchok, a landmark symbolising unity and historical ties between communities in the region.
Officials said the visit reflects growing engagement between India and France and aims to promote cooperation in cultural exchange and partnership.
