Three Young Women Killed in Guwahati Road Crash, Driver Absconding

Guwahati, April 26: A tragic road accident in front of Gate Hospital in Mathgharia, Guwahati, claimed the lives of three young women early Sunday morning, police said.

According to reports, the victims were travelling in a speeding vehicle (AS01GP0562) that rammed into a stationary truck parked by the roadside at around 4 a.m. The impact of the collision was severe, killing all three occupants on the spot.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident and is currently absconding. Police have launched a search operation to trace the driver and have begun an investigation into the incident.

The bodies of the victims have been shifted to the morgue of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination.

Two of the deceased have been identified as Puja Saha from Goalpara and Akanksha Saikia from Sivasagar. Saikia, who worked at Royal Global University, hailed from Sapekhati in Sonari. The identity of the third victim is yet to be confirmed.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the city as authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances leading to the fatal crash.
