Tripura, April 13: A shocking incident has emerged from the Belatali area of Udaipur in Tripura’s Gomati district, where a suspended government school teacher allegedly killed his wife and son while they were asleep before attempting to take his own life.

The accused has been identified as Ajit Das, who allegedly attacked his wife Rupa Das (45) and their son Diganta Das (19) late Sunday night. Diganta was reportedly a student of ICFAI University Tripura.
According to police sources, the victims were brutally assaulted while sleeping, allegedly using a heavy wooden object. The crime came to light early Monday morning when neighbours alerted authorities. Police reached the spot around 5 am and recovered the bodies, along with a blood-stained wooden weapon believed to have been used in the attack.
After committing the alleged crime, Ajit Das reportedly consumed pesticide in an attempt to end his life. He was immediately taken to Udaipur District Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment and is said to be out of danger.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused had been suffering from mental health issues and was undergoing treatment. Police also stated that he had recently been suspended from his job over allegations of administrative misconduct, and the family had been under significant stress.
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact motive behind the double murder, which has sent shockwaves across the local community.
