Sikkim: Drone Flying Banned in Gangtok Ahead of PM’s Visit

Gangtok, April 23: The Government of Sikkim has prohibited the flying of drones across Gangtok district from April 26 to April 28, 2026, in view of the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of India.

According to an office order issued by the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, the restriction has been imposed for security reasons during the Prime Minister’s visit to the state.

The order directs all individuals and organisations to strictly comply with the ban. Authorities warned that any violation will invite legal action under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and relevant regulations of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Officials said the measure has been implemented as part of enhanced security arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the Prime Minister’s scheduled programmes in Sikkim.
