The concert will be part of the band’s ongoing “Coming Home” tour marking their 60th anniversary. The tour includes performances in four Indian cities - Shillong, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru and Mumbai.

Guitarist Matthias Jabs recalled the band’s earlier visit to India as a special experience, particularly their performance in Shillong. He described the city’s audience as passionate rock fans and said the band holds some of its best memories from the show.

Frontman Klaus Meine also reminisced about the concert, noting the enthusiastic response from fans in the city. He recalled how the excitement surrounding the event was so intense that schoolchildren were reportedly given a day off to attend the show.

The band, founded in 1965 in Hanover by guitarist Rudolf Schenker, is known worldwide for iconic hits such as Rock You Like a Hurricane, Wind of Change, Still Loving You, No One Like You and Send Me an Angel. The current lineup includes Schenker, Meine, Jabs, bassist Paweł Mąciwoda and drummer Mikkey Dee.

Reflecting on the band’s long career, Schenker attributed their longevity to strong internal chemistry and the inspiration gained from performing around the world. Band members also noted that touring in India has been a rewarding experience, allowing them to connect with enthusiastic new audiences.

With their return to Shillong, the band expects another energetic reception. Meine said music continues to unite people across cultures, adding that fans are expected to sing along to classics like “Wind of Change,” celebrating love, peace and rock and roll.

The upcoming concert is expected to draw large crowds, as Shillong once again prepares to host one of the most iconic bands in global rock music.
