RGU Scholar Taba Jirpu Selected for Prestigious Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowship

Itanagar, April 28: Miss Taba Jirpu, a Ph.D. research scholar at the Department of Zoology, Rajiv Gandhi University, has been selected for the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowship for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Taba Jirpu, a PhD scholar at Rajiv Gandhi University, who has been selected for the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowship 2026–27.


Jirpu, who is pursuing her doctoral research under the supervision of Arnab Ghosh, becomes the first scholar from both Rajiv Gandhi University and the state of Arunachal Pradesh to receive the highly competitive international fellowship.

Her research focuses on cancer biology, particularly on developing improved therapeutic strategies for pancreatic cancer. The study explores the role of extracellular vesicles - tiny particles released by cells - in enhancing targeted treatment approaches for pancreatic cancer patients.

The Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowship, jointly administered by India and the United States, enables selected scholars to conduct advanced research at leading academic institutions in the United States. As part of the fellowship, Jirpu is scheduled to travel to the US in August 2026 to collaborate with international experts and further her research.

Congratulating the scholar on her achievement, Pema Khandu said the accomplishment is a proud moment for the state and expressed confidence that her work would contribute to scientific advancement while bringing recognition to Arunachal Pradesh.
