A large public rally was organised in Moirang, where hundreds of residents, civil society members, women groups, and concerned citizens gathered to condemn the brutal killing of two innocent children at Tronglaobi. Protesters demanded strict punishment for those responsible and called for the immediate identification and arrest of the culprits.

Participants also raised strong objections against personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force, alleging that they opened fire on civilians during the agitation. According to protesters, the incident resulted in the deaths of three civilians and left at least 30 others injured.

Speakers at the rally accused the authorities of failing to ensure justice and protect civilians, urging the government to take immediate action against those responsible for both the killings and the firing incident.

Meanwhile, a separate sit-in protest was staged in Imphal by mothers from Singjamei Kshetri Leikai along with inmates of the Akampat Relief Camp. The protesters condemned the killing of the two children at Tronglaobi and the deaths of civilians during the alleged firing.

The group also denounced the recent rape and killing of a seven-year-old internally displaced girl, describing the crime as barbaric and inhuman. Protesters accused the government of failing to protect citizens and said the situation has worsened due to the administration’s inability to restore normalcy since violence erupted in May 2023.

Calling the administration a “failed government,” the demonstrators demanded urgent measures to ensure safety, justice, and peace in the state.

The protest concluded with slogans demanding justice for the victims and accountability from the authorities.
