Ukhrul, Manipur: At least one person was killed and several others were injured after suspected armed men opened fire on vehicles near TM Kasom in Ukhrul district on Saturday afternoon, according to sources.

The incident occurred around 2:38 PM when travellers were reportedly on their way to Ukhrul from Imphal. Sources said suspected armed group members fired at vehicles plying along the road near TM Kasom, targeting civilians.

Initial reports indicate that two persons sustained serious injuries, while one person belonging to the Tangkhul Naga community was killed in the attack. At least five vehicles were also reportedly damaged due to the gunfire.
Security forces have been alerted and are monitoring the situation, while further details are awaited. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
