Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre Inaugurated at Sohra CHC to Combat Child Malnutrition

Sohra, April 23: A Primary Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) was inaugurated at the Sohra Community Health Centre on Wednesday to strengthen pediatric healthcare and address malnutrition among children in the region.

Officials inaugurate the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre at Sohra Community Health Centre, aimed at treating children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.


The facility was formally opened by Dr. E.L. Kharmutee, District Maternal and Child Health Officer.

The centre has been established to provide specialised medical care and intensive nutritional support for children under the age of five diagnosed with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM). Health officials said the NRC will offer treatment, monitoring and rehabilitation within the community to improve recovery and long-term health outcomes for vulnerable children.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. K. Kharnaior, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist and In-charge of Sohra CHC; Dr. G. Swett, SDMHO Sohra; Dr. J. Nongrum, Pediatrician; and Dr. B. Shullai, District Programme Manager of the National Health Mission (NHM).

Officials stated that the centre will play a crucial role in strengthening community-level healthcare services and reducing child malnutrition in the area.
