Dimapur, April 15: The Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) has issued a press statement accusing authorities of carrying out a “witch-hunt” against members of the NSCN (Khango/Vusshe) and expressing concern over what it described as a betrayal of commitments made during negotiations on the Naga political issue.

In the statement, the NNPGs said that by mid-October 2019, negotiations between the Government of India’s interlocutor R.N. Ravi and Naga representatives had agreed on the principles of “co-existence and enduring peace.” However, the group alleged that the Indian political leadership has since reneged on that pledge.
The committee also claimed that recent developments, including the arrest of K. Kits of Vikhu village on January 19, 2026, by members of the NSCN (Khango/Vusshe), had exposed alleged irregularities within certain groups and raised questions about law enforcement actions. The statement further alleged that corruption and misuse of funds collected in the name of Naga political groups were taking place.
The NNPGs emphasised that the Naga political movement belongs to the people and warned that continued frustration among educated and unemployed youth could lead to unrest if the issue remains unresolved.

The group reiterated that no genuine Naga political organisation would accept monthly maintenance payments in exchange for surrendering the demand for a political solution. It also urged businesses and residents in Nagaland to remain cautious about paying unofficial “taxes” or protection fees to individuals or groups claiming to represent political organisations.
The Working Committee said it would closely monitor the activities of business welfare union leaders and others allegedly misusing public contributions meant for the Naga cause.
The statement concluded by calling for integrity and accountability while the long-standing Indo-Naga political issue remains unresolved.
