Imphal, April 15: The All Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland (AZSU-AMN) has elected a new leadership team for the 2026–2029 tenure following its general election held on April 14 at Namdunlung in Imphal, Manipur.

According to a press release issued by the union, the election witnessed enthusiastic participation from federating units representing Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland. The event was also attended by senior members, former leaders, and well-wishers of the organisation.
The contest for the post of president was closely fought between Haibeube Kuame, representing AZSU Assam, and Amonbo Zeliang from AZSU Nagaland. In a tightly contested election, Kuame secured victory by a margin of just one vote, with the final tally standing at 21–20.
Meanwhile, Chiheuding Khate and Haikanghingbe Newme were elected unopposed as Public Relation Secretary and Treasurer respectively. The union stated that remaining vacant posts will be filled during the executive expansion by the newly elected team.
The AZSU-AMN said the narrow margin reflects the democratic spirit of the organisation and the trust placed in both candidates. It congratulated the president-elect and extended appreciation to all participants for maintaining unity and respect throughout the process.
The election concluded with closing remarks by election commission member Vitono Haralu, while a benediction prayer was offered by Kadichun Kamei.
