Nemcha Kipgen, Assam Rifles DIG Discuss Peace and Stability in Kangpokpi

Imphal, April 29, 2026: Jawalamukhi, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Assam Rifles, called on Nemcha Kipgen, Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, at Kangpokpi district on Wednesday to discuss the prevailing security situation and issues concerning peace and stability in the region.

During the interaction, both sides exchanged views on maintaining normalcy and addressing concerns of local communities. The Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of all communities and supporting initiatives aimed at fostering peace, stability, and development in the region.

The meeting concluded on a positive note with a shared resolve to strengthen coordination and promote mutual understanding to ensure lasting peace and normalcy.

Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen also reiterated her vision of building a drug-free and healthy society in Manipur, stressing the importance of collective efforts by communities, youth, and authorities to combat drug abuse. She emphasized that awareness campaigns, stronger support systems, and positive lifestyle choices are essential for ensuring a safer and healthier future for the state.

Later in the day, the Deputy Chief Minister held a meeting with leaders of smaller and often underrepresented tribal communities at her office chamber in Kangpokpi district headquarters.

The interaction, conducted under the theme of inclusive development, provided an opportunity for tribal leaders to raise concerns regarding poor road connectivity, inadequate educational infrastructure, and the need for protection and development of community assets. Delegations also submitted proposals aimed at promoting socio-economic progress in their respective areas.

Officials present said Kipgen listened to the concerns of each delegation and assured that their grievances would be taken into consideration.

Addressing the gathering, she reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive governance and equitable development, emphasizing that no community should remain unheard or excluded from the state’s development process.

Participants welcomed the outreach initiative, describing it as a constructive step that helped bridge the gap between governance and grassroots communities, particularly at a time when smaller communities have been seeking greater participation in policymaking and development planning in Manipur.
