Naga Youth Body Mourns Death of Village Guard Ino Horshokmi Jamang, Demands Revocation of SoO

Imphal, April 25, 2026: Khanuithot-Khon, a Naga youth organisation, has expressed deep condolences over the death of Naga Village Guard volunteer Lt. Ino Horshokmi Jamang (29), who was killed in the early hours of April 24 near Sinakeithei village in Manipur’s Kamjong district.

According to the organisation, Jamang, the son of Lungshim Jamang from Chatrik Khullen village, was on routine patrol between Sirarakong and Sinakeithei when his unit was reportedly ambushed. The group claimed that armed militants carried out the attack during ongoing tensions in the area.

Jamang, described as a volunteer who stood in defence of his community, reportedly died while guarding his village. The attack also left four other volunteers injured, identified as Ino Ramshang Kamodang, Ino Horreir Khokyar, Ino Shonshok Mahung, and Ino Ramganing Mahon.

Khanuithot-Khon said Jamang is survived by his wife and a ten-month-old daughter, and extended prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured volunteers.

The organisation stated that the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has honoured Jamang’s sacrifice and pledged that his death would not be in vain.

The youth body also called for the immediate revocation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement, alleging that it has enabled continued violence in the region. It demanded justice for Jamang and other victims of the ongoing conflict.

In its message, Khanuithot-Khon expressed solidarity with Jamang’s family and described his death as a sacrifice that will remain etched in the history of the Naga struggle.
