Aizawl, April 29, 2026: The Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) on Wednesday declared the results of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examination 2026, recording a significant improvement in overall performance with a pass percentage of 87.67 percent. The result marks an increase of 6.57 percentage points compared to the previous year, reflecting a positive trend in higher secondary education across the state.

According to data released by the Board, a total of 12,399 candidates were registered for the examination this year. Of these, 12,243 students appeared for the examination, while 156 candidates remained absent. A total of 10,734 students successfully passed, contributing to the improved overall pass rate.
The examination was conducted across the three academic streams of Arts, Science, and Commerce. The Arts stream recorded the highest number of candidates, with 8,714 students appearing for the examination. The Science stream had 2,770 candidates, while 759 students appeared in the Commerce stream.
Speaking on the occasion, MBSE Chairman J.H. Zoremthanga expressed satisfaction with the successful declaration of the results and thanked all officials, teachers, examination personnel, and stakeholders who contributed to the smooth conduct of the examinations. He acknowledged the collective efforts that ensured the timely completion of evaluation and publication of the results.
The Chairman also informed that arrangements would soon be made for compartment examinations, enabling students who did not clear certain subjects to improve their results without facing difficulties in seeking admission to higher studies. He stated that the Board remains committed to supporting students and ensuring that academic progression is not adversely affected.
The Board reported that the highest marks obtained in the examination were 466 in the Arts stream, 462 in Science, and 463 in Commerce, highlighting the strong academic performances achieved by several candidates this year.
School-wise performance data also reflected encouraging results. According to MBSE, 64 schools in the Arts stream, 14 schools in Science, and 16 schools in Commerce achieved a 100 percent pass rate. However, one school in the Arts stream recorded a zero-pass result. No such cases were reported in either the Science or Commerce streams.
District-wise analysis showed that Serchhip district recorded the highest pass percentage in the Arts stream with 91.86 percent, while Kolasib district emerged as the top-performing district in Science with a pass rate of 94.59 percent. In the Commerce stream, Hnahthial district achieved a remarkable 100 percent pass rate, making it the best-performing district in that category.

MBSE also disclosed that 115 candidates have been placed under the compartment category, allowing them another opportunity to clear the examination. The Board further announced that students who wish to raise concerns or seek clarification regarding their results may submit complaints or applications within seven days from the date of declaration.
Education officials welcomed the improved pass percentage, viewing it as a reflection of the dedication of students, teachers, and educational institutions throughout the state. The results are expected to provide encouragement to students preparing for higher education and professional courses.
The declaration of the HSSLC 2026 results marks another important milestone in Mizoram’s education sector, with the improved performance indicating steady progress in academic standards and student achievement across the state.
