Shillong, April 24: Meghalaya and Telangana are exploring avenues for collaboration to strengthen early childhood development and community-led welfare systems.

During a recent high-level meeting, Meghalaya’s Social Welfare Advisor Paul Lyngdoh met with Telangana’s Minister for Women and Child Welfare Danasari Anasuya Seethakka to discuss strategies aimed at improving welfare initiatives for women and children.

The discussion highlighted Meghalaya’s Early Childhood Development Mission (MECDM) as a model initiative, with programmes such as the ECD Fellowship and the Human Development Leadership Initiative being recognised for their strong grassroots impact.

The Meghalaya delegation included P. Sampath Kumar and MECDM Chief Operating Officer Ronald Kynta, who joined the talks to explore how successful approaches from Meghalaya could be adapted in other states.

Officials from both sides discussed ways to enhance knowledge sharing and strengthen community-driven systems that support human development at the grassroots level.

The collaboration is being seen as a significant step toward inter-state learning and cooperation, with both governments expressing commitment to advancing inclusive and people-centric development initiatives focused on the wellbeing of women and children.
