State Level Coordinator S. Mudui stated that Meghalaya currently has sufficient reserves to meet demand, with petrol stocks adequate for about 25 days and diesel reserves expected to last around 46 days. She added that a robust supply infrastructure and continuous monitoring system are ensuring uninterrupted fuel distribution across the state.

According to officials, Meghalaya has 334 retail fuel outlets, including 205 outlets of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), 43 of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), 72 of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), and 14 outlets operated by private companies such as Reliance, Shell, and Nayara Energy. All outlets are currently functioning normally with no restrictions on sales.

Mudui urged the public to avoid panic buying or panic booking, stating that supply levels remain consistent with normal consumption patterns recorded between January and March 2026. She emphasized that the state’s fuel supply chain is operating smoothly through coordinated efforts between oil marketing companies and the state government.

Regarding LPG distribution, officials reported that domestic LPG services are being provided to approximately 3.7 lakh consumers through 66 distributors across the state. Distributors currently have adequate stock of cylinders, and no supply disruptions have been reported. On average, about 413 LPG refills are delivered daily, with a backlog of roughly five days being cleared according to scheduled bookings.

Officials also highlighted progress in the digitisation of LPG services, noting that 83% of bookings are now made through digital platforms, compared to 68% two months ago. Consumers have been encouraged to use digital booking systems and share their Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) at the time of delivery to ensure transparent and secure distribution.

Meanwhile, Indian Oil Chief General Manager Amarjit Bordoloi said that concerns over LPG shortages are largely driven by public panic rather than an actual supply crisis. He noted that the Northeast region is in a relatively better position as several refineries in the region produce a significant portion of the LPG required locally.

Bordoloi also stressed the importance of completing e-KYC procedures to enable seamless digital booking of LPG cylinders and prevent misuse or diversion of domestic cylinders.

Authorities reiterated that the supply of petrol, diesel, and LPG in Meghalaya remains normal and under control, urging citizens not to spread rumours and to cooperate with digital compliance measures to ensure smooth distribution.

Officials added that district-level monitoring committees are actively overseeing fuel distribution and inspections are being carried out regularly to prevent hoarding or illegal diversion of petroleum products.
