In a
statement released on April 18, the council expressed deep concern over certain
media reports alleging the involvement of Kuki militants in the attack. The
organisation categorically and unequivocally rejected the claims, stating that
no Kuki-Zo individuals or groups were involved in the incident.
According
to the council, ground-level information suggests that the incident may be
linked to prevailing tensions among certain factional groups rather than the
actions of any Kuki-Zo organisation.
The KZC
also expressed regret that blame was attributed to the Kuki-Zo community
without proper verification or credible evidence. It said such allegations have
become a recurring pattern whenever incidents involving either the Meitei or
Naga communities occur in Manipur.

The
council further urged social media users, media organisations, civil society
groups and authorities to exercise responsibility by verifying facts before
making or publishing accusations against any community.
Reiterating its stance, the Kuki-Zo Council stated that the Kuki-Zo people have no role in the incident and appealed to the public to refrain from spreading misinformation.
