Manipur: Five Arrested for Damaging Fertilizer Truck in Bishnupur District

Bishnupur, April 27, 2026: Manipur Police have arrested five individuals for allegedly damaging a truck and destroying its shipment of fertilizer bags at Moirang Patlou under Moirang Police Station in Bishnupur district.

According to the police, the incident occurred on April 26 when a group of individuals reportedly attacked a loaded truck and damaged its consignment. The arrested persons have been identified as Laishram Avijit Singh (25) of Thamnapokpi village, Khwairakpam Dhaneshwor Singh (25) of Thamnapokpi village, Alex Moirangthem (25) of Ngangkhalawai Awang Leikai, Phairembam Kaijer Singh (36) of Konjengbam Leikai, and Sanabam Chaoba Meitei (48), currently residing at the Moirang College Relief Camp in Churachandpur Mata Leirak.

Police said four two-wheelers used in the commission of the crime were also seized from the accused.

The arrests come amid tensions in the region where the movement of goods has reportedly been disrupted. Earlier on the same day, a truck carrying goods destined for Churachandpur was allegedly intercepted at Moirang Bazar by a group of civilians.

Reports indicated that the consignment was forcibly offloaded and the truck was prevented from proceeding. Some goods were reportedly set on fire on the road by a group of women, prompting police to intervene and disperse the crowd by firing tear gas shells.

Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
