Manipur Inaugurates Ebudhou Phunal Ningthou Telheiba Santhok Temple in Imphal East

Imphal, April 28, 2026: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Tuesday inaugurated the Ebudhou Phunal Ningthou Telheiba Santhok, Ningthou Apanba Laishang (Temple) at Sandrok Laibung Hall in Imphal East, highlighting the importance of preserving the state's rich spiritual and cultural heritage.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by L. Rameshwor Meetei, local leaders, community elders, devotees, and residents, who gathered to witness the dedication of the newly established sacred site. The event commenced with traditional rituals and prayers, reflecting the deep-rooted customs and religious traditions of the Meitei community.

During the ceremony, special prayers were offered for lasting peace, harmony, stability, and the well-being of all the people of Manipur. Religious leaders and devotees invoked divine blessings for prosperity and unity at a time when the state continues its efforts to restore normalcy and strengthen communal harmony.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Khemchand described the inauguration of the Ningthou Apanba Laishang as a significant milestone in preserving Manipur's indigenous faith and cultural identity. He said that sacred institutions such as temples and traditional community halls are not only places of worship but also centres for promoting moral values, discipline, and social cohesion.

The Chief Minister observed that the establishment of the Shanglen reflects the enduring strength and resilience of Manipur's spiritual traditions, which have been passed down through generations. He emphasised that such institutions continue to play a vital role in nurturing a sense of belonging, guiding individuals towards righteousness, and fostering unity among diverse communities.

Khemchand further stated that Manipur's indigenous religion and cultural heritage remain integral to the state's identity, shaping its collective spirit and preserving its unique traditions. He noted that protecting these cultural institutions is essential for strengthening trust, resilience, and togetherness among the people.

The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the state government's commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at preserving Manipur's rich cultural and religious legacy. He expressed hope that the newly inaugurated temple would serve as a spiritual centre for future generations while inspiring values of peace, compassion, and communal harmony across the state.
