Imphal, April 21: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Monday held a meeting with Puneet Rastogi, IPS, Additional Director General (Headquarters) of the Border Security Force (BSF) at the Manipur Secretariat to review the evolving security situation along the Indo–Myanmar border and discuss measures to strengthen border management.

The meeting focused on the prevailing security scenario in the border areas and the need for enhanced coordination between the state government and central security agencies. Both leaders deliberated on the challenges posed by the international border and emphasized the importance of a coordinated and proactive approach to address emerging security concerns.
During the discussion, the Chief Minister appreciated the Border Security Force for its dedicated service in safeguarding the country's borders and acknowledged its significant contribution to maintaining peace and stability in Manipur. He noted that the BSF has played a crucial role not only in strengthening border security but also in supporting civil authorities in maintaining law and order during challenging situations in the state.

Khemchand stressed that effective border management is essential for preventing illegal cross-border movement, curbing smuggling activities, and ensuring the safety and security of people living in border regions. He reiterated that the state government remains committed to working closely with the BSF and other security agencies to strengthen surveillance and improve coordination along the international border.
The Chief Minister also assured the BSF of the government's full support in ensuring that the force is equipped with the necessary resources, infrastructure, and logistical assistance required to effectively discharge its responsibilities. He emphasized that close cooperation between the state administration and security forces is vital for addressing security challenges and maintaining lasting peace in the region.
The Manipur government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the BSF in its mission to protect the nation's borders while ensuring stability and public safety across the state. Both sides expressed confidence that continued coordination and joint efforts would further enhance security along the Indo–Myanmar border and contribute to peace and development in the region.
