In a statement released on April 7, the apex tribal body clarified that as per resolutions adopted during the Hengbung Assembly and reaffirmed in a subsequent one-day assembly of Kuki Inpi Manipur, any organisation formed without the mandate of the people would not be recognised by the Kuki community.
The organisation warned that the emergence of such groups within the community could harm the unity and collective interests of the Kuki society rather than benefit it.
Kuki Inpi Manipur further advised the general public, civil society organisations, and government agencies not to extend any form of support, cooperation, or legitimacy to the body known as the United Kuki Council.
According to the announcement, the organisation has been disowned by the Kuki society and has been directed to cease and disband its activities with immediate effect.
The apex body also requested the press, media houses, and social media platforms not to publish or circulate any statements or communications issued in the name of the United Kuki Council, stating that the body does not represent the Kuki society in any capacity.
The statement was issued by Janghaolun Haokip, Secretary of Information and Publicity of Kuki Inpi Manipur, in the interest of maintaining unity, order, and clarity within the community.
